POLO researcher participates in BRICS Forum in Russia

 

 

 

O pesquisador Guilherme Fidelis PeixerResearcher Guilherme Fidelis Peixer, from the Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), participated in the 9th Young Scientists Forum and competed as a finalist for the 7th BRICS Young Innovator Award. The events took place from November 25 to 29 in Sochi, Russia. 25 and 29 de novembro, na cidade de Sochi, na Rússia.

The events bring together emerging talent from the five countries of the bloc with the aim of promoting scientific advancements and innovative solutions to global challenges. Brazil's participation consisted of 19 representatives. Among them, 12 scientists participated in the Forum and five young people competed for the Young Innovator Award. The Brazilian delegation is coordinated by the International Affairs Office of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (ASSIN/MCTI) and has the support of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC).

Guilherme competed with the MagChill project: Development of a Magnetocaloric System Prototype, developed by the team at the Refrigeration and Thermophysics Research Laboratory (Polo) at UFSC. The project is an alternative cooling and heating system for air conditioning and similar devices, using magnetism and artificial intelligence. MagChill: Desenvolvimento de um Protótipo de sistema magnetocalórico, desenvolvido pela equipe do Laboratório de Pesquisa em Refrigeração e Termofísica (Polo) da UFSC. O projeto é um sistema alternativo de refrigeração e aquecimento para aparelhos de condicionamento de ar e similares, que usa magnetismo e inteligência artificial.
