The POLO has laboratory infrastructure to characterize thermophysical properties of liquids, gases and their mixtures, such as solubility and phase balance, limits of miscibility, density, viscosity, thermal conductivity and dielectric properties. A special emphasis is given to the characterization of mixtures of refrigerant fluids and lubricating oils used in refrigeration systems. Mathematical models for theoretical prediction of the behavior of these properties are in constant development and improvement.
