About course

Compressors are found in systems installed in residential, commercial and industrial environments as well as in transportation. The use of compressors is varied and may meet refrigeration applications, pneumatic systems, chemical processes, manufactures, among others. The design of compressors involves various areas of knowledge such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, acoustics, materials and solid mechanics. The discipline "Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics Compressor" addresses the physical aspects that affect the performance and various types of compressors (reciprocal, rotary, screw, scroll and centrifugal). In addition, experimental techniques employed for the analysis of compressor performance models are also detailed, with emphasis on the compression cycle, momentum valves, bearings and thermal management.
