Cesar Deschamps graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and obtained his master's degree in Thermal Sciences also at UFSC. He then obtained his doctoral degree at the University of Manchester for numerical analysis of turbulent flow through valves of IC engines. He rejoined UFSC in 1994 where he is currently Professor of Mechanical Engineering. His research group, focusing on experimental and numerical analysis of flow and heat transfer in components of refrigeration compressors, achieved international recognition. His research activities have received financial support from the public and private sectors (CNPq, CAPES, FINEP, BNDES, Embraco, Whirlpool, Embraer and other sources). He has supervised 13 PhD and 47 MSc students to a successful completion of their projects and published over 200 technical papers in international journals and conferences. As well as being active in research he has been involved in teaching, including giving lectures on Fluid Mechanics, Modeling of Turbulent Flow, Compressible Fluid Flow and Theory and Modeling of Refrigeration Compressors.
