Santa Catarina's companies WEG and Embraco received on this monday evening (07/18) the Prêmio Inovação Brasil, awarded by the newspaper Valor Econômico. The companies are among the 10 most innovative in the country, on a ranking prepared by Valor in a partnership with the consulting company Strategy&, from the group PwC.

On the ranking of the 100 companies, WEG was on second place in the category "capital goods" and in seventh place on general, while Embraco was in third on the same category and in nineth on the innovation ranking. The methodology of evaluation of the companies considered four criteria: intention of innovating, effort on achieving innovation, achieved results and market value.

— We're one of the most innovative companies from Brazil and one of the six open-capital brazilian companies present on the list of the 1000 biggest global companies that invests the most in R&D. In 2015, about 50% of our revenue was generated with products developed in less than five years - explains Milton Castella, Engineering Director from WEG.

According to the company, on the last 10 years it was invested on average 2,8% of the revenues on research and development. From the thirty thousand employees, more than a thousand are dedicated exclusively to innovation.

Embraco, hosted in Joinville, climbed 16 positions in comparison with the first edition of the research, on 2015. The company has global acting, employs eleven thousand employees and produces anually 40 millions of electric compressors for cooling.
