Summary

This work investigated the influence of the compressor speed, expansion valve opening, and refrigerant charge on the performance of a refrigeration system, with the purpose of identifying regions where the system operated with maximum COP. For doing so, an experimental apparatus, comprising a variable spee d compressor (CRV), a PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) electronic expansion valve (EEV) and a device to control the system refrigerant charge, was specially designed and constructed.
