Summary

This work presents a theoretical and experimental a nalysis of the influence of atomization of lubricant oil in the cylinder of a reciprocating household refrigeration compressor. During compression, oil atomization enhances heat removal from the refrigerant gas, which results in a decrease in temperature of the compressor components. The principal objective of compression cooling is a reduction of energy losses associated with compression inefficiencies and refrigerant superheating.
