Summary
Linear stability of flows in radial diffusers had been studied numerically through a finite volume methodology adapted from the scheme proposed by Patankar (1980). The main objective of this investigation is to study the stability of the solutions found by Langer (1991), who identified the loss of stability of symmetrical solutions after a critical Reynolds number, resulting in a pitchfork bifurcation of the numerical solutions.
