The efficiency of reciprocating compressors is greatly affected by gas superheating associated with heat transfer in the suction system. Such superh eating losses are affected by many factors, which can interact among themselves in a nontrivial manner. Several efforts have been directed to provide a better understanding of heat transfer inside the compressor and, as a consequence, alternatives to reduce superheating.
