Summary

This work presents a numerical model for the simulation of the flow of refrigerant fluids along capillary tubes used as expansion devices in refrigeration systems. Such flow is divided into a region where the refrigerant fluid is in the state of sub-cooled liquid and another of liquid-phase two-phase flow. Due to the compressibility of the flow in the biphasic region, generally conditions of critical or blocked flow are found in capillary tubes.
