Summary

In the present work some aspects of the hydrodynamic stability of radial flows were investigated using the Theory of Linear Stability. The flow field was decomposed as a sum of a basic flow and a disturbance field and use was made of the full perturbation equation without the simplifications usually adopted in the Orr-Sommerfeld equations. The motivation for the thesis came after reviewing the works of Pilichi (1990) and Langer (1991) about flows in radial difiisors, and Cherdron et alii (1978) about flows in ducts with sudden expansions.
