Summary

The objective of this work is to assess the capabilities of the HPSIM program, de­ veloped by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, to simulate the thermal performance of a brazilian window-type air conditioning unit. It is shown that the perfor­ mance of such program is strongly dependent on the void fraction model being employed. Comparison between experimental and computational results, in both cooling and heating modes, are presented and discussed.
