Summary

The objective of this work is to present a numerical model able to simulate the dynamic behaviour of domestic refrigerators. In doing so the model takes into account the following components: condenser, evaporator, hermetic reciprocating compressor and a capillary tube. The model is also able to simulate both forced and natural-draft condensers. As an additional feature the thermal resistances, needed to evaluate the heat exchanges, both in the air and refrigerant sides of the heat exchangers, are internally computed by the program in each time step. Comparisons between numerical and experimental results are presented and discussed. A sensitivity analysis, to ilustrate the potentialities of the program, is also presented.
