The Energy Transition Research & Innovation 2023 (ETRI 2023) took place between November 7th and 9th. In its 6th edition, the event was held at the International Diffusion Center (CDI) at the University of São Paulo (USP), in São Paulo.

ETRI is now serving as a pivotal platform to explore the critical challenges and innovative solutions driving greenhouse gas mitigation and sustainable energy transition.

The three-day conference, organized by the Research Center for Greenhouse Gas Innovation (RCGI – USP), brought together the academy, stakeholders and society to share knowledge, exchange ideas, gain insights and form partnerships for the oil, gas and energy industries.

Polo holds presentation on innovative technologies for hydrogen liquefaction

Polo was present at this important event in the area. Researcher Guilherme Fidelis Peixer presented important matters in "Performance Assessment of Commercial and Innovative Technologies for Hydrogen Liquefaction".

On the occasion, a qualitative review of conventional and emerging technologies for hydrogen liquefaction was presented. In the review, it was observed that conventional cycles are considered mature conventional technologies, with opportunities for optimization in cycle architectures, hybridization with other systems and increase in plant size, which will be driven mainly by the demand for liquid hydrogen.

Furthermore, results were presented on magnetocaloric systems. These systems are still in the early stages of development, with several challenges and opportunities to be overcome until large-scale commercial applications, applying more attention and investments, have been directed to the technology.

Polo invests in research focused on this important topic. In addition to studies in the area, Polo also participates in the Mobility, Logistics and Decarbonization Network, an action developed through the EMBRAPII program. The Network's proposal is to encourage the development of technological solutions that prepare Brazil for the mobility agenda of the future, which includes autonomous, more connected and sustainable vehicles.
